The Institute of Socio-Ecology and Ethnobiology of Ilia State University (Institute of Ethnobiology for short) was established in 2015 (Director Prof. Zaal Kikvidze). The main focus of our research is ethnobiology of Georgia, which includes ethnobotanical, ethnozoological and ethnoecological studies. One of the main components of these studies is the research and documentation of traditional ecological knowledge. The Institute of Ethnobiology closely cooperates with other institutes of Ilia State University, mainly the Institute of Botany and the Institute of Ecology, not only in the field of ethnobiology, but also in the field of community ecology.
